Middle School

Middle School students are expected to engage with Informational text on higher levels of engagement through integration and analysis of their learning. They  also must express their understanding of the information through expository writing.

We target both the Common Core and AASL standards for Middle School.

Common Core Reading Standards for Informational Text 6-8th
  1. Integrate information presented in different media or formats (e.g., visually, quantitatively) as well as in words to develop a coherent understanding of a topic or issue.
  2. Writing Writing Standards for Literacy in History/Social Studies, Science, and Technical Subjects 6-8th Use precise language and domain-specific vocabulary to inform about or explain the topic.
AASL Standard:
2.1.6 Use the writing process, media and visual literacy, and technology skills to create products that express new understandings.
